This Sunday’s Novice Helm Race is your time to shine!
Open to all sailors with less than two years of experience (who have completed the Start Crewing course or have equivalent experience), this race gives you the opportunity to helm for at least 80% of the race and gain valuable time on the tiller or wheel.
This event has been introduced based on feedback from the skipper/crew meeting as an alternative to the Lady Skipper Series - with the intention of fostering participation and development of up and coming sailors within our club, irrespective of gender.
While it won’t count toward the Tom Slingsby Series, it’s a standalone event focused on learning, skill-building, and friendly competition.
We’re encouraging skippers to share their experience as well as their helm time to help mentor and support the next generation of WYC sailors.

Briefing will be via WhatsApp message on the day. Skippers, don't forget to run RaceQs and text your finish time and the name of your Novice Helmsperson (or DNF) to Travis (0418 190 191).
